Colorado Theater in Non-Traditional Spaces (TINTS) is Chaffee County’s most unique theater company. Established in 2017, TINTS was founded to bring under-reported stories to the public through theater. Our team of writers, actors and directors create original scripts that highlight individuals whose achievements have been under-recognized. TINTS also partners with community groups and schools for writing projects that culminate in live performance.

In the realm of theater, some stories transcend mere entertainment to become powerful vehicles for social change and remembrance.

Colorado TINTS production of Mike Broemmel’s “An Echoing Spring” stands as one such production.

“An Echoing Spring” takes on the profound responsibility of telling Matthew Shepard’s story through an artistic lens that both honors his memory and challenges audiences to confront the ongoing issue of hate crimes against the LGBTQ+ community. What sets this theatrical piece apart is its unique approach to storytelling. Rather than focusing solely on the crime’s brutality, the production weaves together moments from Matthew’s life, creating a fuller picture of the young man whose death became a catalyst for change. The play’s title itself speaks to the enduring nature of Matthew’s impact – like spring, his story continues to emerge anew, fostering growth and transformation in its wake.
